Accession by Kazakhstan to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat

On 2 January 2007, Kazakhstan deposited with the Director-General its instrument of accession to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat adopted at Ramsar in 1971 as amended in 1982 and 1987.

In accordance with Article 2 (1) of the Convention, the wetland named Tengiz-Korgalzhyn Lake System has been designated by Kazakhstan for inclusion in the List of Wetlands of International Importance established by virtue of this Convention.

In accordance with Article 10(2), the Convention as amended in 1982 and 1987 will enter into force with respect to Kazakhstan four months after the deposit of this instrument of accession, that is to say on 2 May 2007.
