Celebration of the World Dance Day in Kazakhstan

The World Dance Day has been established in 1982 by The International Dance Council of UNESCO in view of attracting attention to the art of dance, every year on the 29th of April. On that day, dance companies, dance schools, organizations and individuals are asked to organize an activity addressing an audience larger than their usual one.

Ballroom dance competition "MIRAS CUP-2006" devoted to the World Dance Day will take place at Miras International School 29-30 April 2006. "MIRAS CUP-2006" is international competition organized by the Miras International School and the Ballroom Dance Federation of Kazakhstan.

This is the second competition of this kind. In 2005 347 dance couples aged from 4 up to 30 and more from Astana, Almaty, Temirtau (Kazakhstan) and from Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) competed in different categories. Among them the most amateur couples performed on various championships of Europe, Asia and the world.

This year geography of the planned International Ballroom Dance Competition, Devoted to the World Dance Day CID-UNESCO and Open Team Championship MIRAS CUP-2006 will be much wider. Dance couples from Kazakhstan (Almaty, Aktau, Astana, Kostanay, Shimkent, Taraz, Temirtau, Ust-Kemen), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), Uzbekistan (Tashkent) and Russia (Moscow, Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Zelenogorsk) are indenting to come. Judges are from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russian and Uzbekistan.
