The Workshop is organized by UNESCO Science Policy and Sustainable Division, UNESCO Institute for Statistics, UNESCO Office in Almaty and Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultiral Organization (ISESCO).The Objectives of the workshop are:
a. Analyze recent international experiences and trends regarding science, technology and innovotaion policy-relevant indicators
b. Discuss science, technology and innovotaion policy-relevant indicators for developing countries
c. Training of high-level technical staff from S&T policy bodies and universities in Central Asia countries
d. Increase the number of countries regularly producing quality S&T indicators in Central Asia
e. Strengthen local capacities for the production of such indicators, with the final aim of establishing sustainable local S&T statistics systems
f. Promote the use of S&T indicators, seeking awereness for evidence-based S&T policy making.
g. Share experiences with other developing countries in the field of S&T indicators, and to address the problems that countries may have encountered in collecting S&T statistics
h. Generate initiatives related to good practices that might be relevant in other countries of the region
High-level technical staff and decision-makers from S&T policy bodies, statistic agencies and uversities from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Iran will participate in this seminar.
