Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan intangible cultural heritage nominations will be reviewed during the Committee meeting in Paris.

The 9th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) will take place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, from 24 to 28 November 2014, where series of nomination files submitted by Central Asian countries will be considered by the Committee for inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

In particular, the following: joint nomination presented by Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan “Traditional knowledge and skills in making Kyrgyz and Kazakh yurts (Turkic nomadic dwellings)”, “Kazakh traditional art of Dombra Kuy” (Kazakhstan), Askiya – the art of wit (Uzbekistan) – will be reviewed this year.



Such nominations as Kok-boru (Kyrgyzstan), aitys/aitysh (Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan) and Traditional embroidery “Chakan” (Tajikistan) will be examined by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on its 10th Session for the possible inscription in 2015.
