Young Nomads Games were held in Almaty

On 23 June 2018, as part of the celebration of the International Olympic Day for the first time in Kazakhstan, in the village of Dolan (Almaty), the Games of Young Nomads for children with oncological diseases were held. The Games, which involved more than 180 children from the Almaty region, was conducted under the slogan "Move, Explore! Discover!"

The event was organized by the Center for Palliative Care for Children "I am with You" with the active support of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty and the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main objective of the project was to empower children with oncological diseases to participate in the Olympic movement and increase their physical activity.

During the all-day event there were competitions in various sports held: traditional national games, athletics, laser shooting, football, pioneer ball, a jump rope for girls and table tennis. Also, for the first time, there were competitions in chess, open air picnic, master classes, gifts and meetings with Olympic champions.

The end of the Games was marked by the awarding ceremony of the young winners with the participation of the Kazakhstan Champions on freestyle wrestling - Mr. Amandyk Bakiyev and Mr. Zhiger Zakirov, the participant of the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 and the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang in 2018 – Ms. Zhanbota Aldabergenova, silver medalist of the World Championship in Judo Mr. Azamat Mukanov.

Before closure of the event, a team of young karate players gave a master class for children and wished them a smooth recovery, and also shared their inspiration and desire to do sports.
